Aquatic plants not only improve the aesthetics, but also water quality. Aquatic pond plants are essential to creating a balanced ecosystem pond. Their root systems serve as a natural filter which will help absorb excess nutrients that would otherwise fuel the growth of unwanted algae. Aquatic pond plants also provide coverage for the pond in order to promote cooler temperatures (more oxygen), and hiding places for your finned friends. It is recommended that 60-70 percent of the pond has plant coverage.
